Fellowship Deficits Emerge and are Covered by CLU
Proceeds from the Condoleezza Rice event did not cover the event’s costs, so there are no net gains available to launch the fellowships as originally anticipated.
VP of Enrollment Matt Ward later states the university “fronted” the fellowship awards with institutional funds in good faith.
Provost and VP of Academic Affairs Leanne Nielson confirms, under sworn testimony, that CLU “loaned” money to the Gallegly Center to cover first fellowships.
Fundraising & Planning Continue
Fundraising continues and modest one-time gifts come in; zero dollars raised for endowment.
Bond between Wheatley and Gallegly strengthens as they plan for a physical center.
University applies for grants to support archives and fellowships— none are awarded.
